Measure a DWG drawing online, free
Check a length on a DWG or DXF drawing without AutoCAD. Click two points and read the distance. The file stays on your computer.
How to measure a distance
- Open the viewer and drop in your DWG or DXF file.
- Click the sheet or drawing you want, to open the large preview.
- Click Measure, then click the first point and the second point. Zoom in first for accuracy.
- The distance appears in the preview. Click a new first point to measure again.
Real distances, even on a sheet
On a layout, the drawing is shown through viewports at a scale, such as 1:50 or 1:100. When both points are inside a viewport, the viewer works out the scale and gives the real distance in the drawing's units, along with the distance on paper. Measured outside a viewport, for example across the title block, you get the distance on the sheet in millimetres.
Units
The distance is given in the units saved in the drawing, such as millimetres, metres or inches. Some drawings do not record their units. In that case the number is shown in drawing units and the page says so, and you can check the scale against a known dimension.
Questions
Can I measure areas or angles?
Not yet. The tool measures straight distances between two points.
Does it snap to lines?
No. Zoom in close to a corner or line end before you click, for a precise reading.
Can I measure on a phone?
It works in a mobile browser, but a mouse is much easier for picking points precisely.
