How to convert a DWG to an image
- Open the converter and drop in your DWG or DXF file.
- Tick the sheets or drawings you want.
- Under More options, set Save as to PNG image or JPG image. (The buttons above set this for you.)
- Click Download image. Several sheets are saved as separate images in one zip file.
PNG or JPG?
- PNG keeps every line crisp, with no blur around thin lines and text. It is the better choice for drawings.
- JPG files are smaller and are accepted everywhere, for example by some upload forms and older programs.
Images are about 4000 pixels on the long side, on a white background, which is sharp enough to print at A4 or to zoom in on screen.
Tips for a clean image
- Hide layers first. Open the large preview and switch off layers you do not want, such as construction lines or notes. They are left out of the image.
- Black and white or colour. Black and white draws every line in black with its lineweight. Colour keeps the drawing's colours.
- Need to zoom right in? A PDF stays sharp at any zoom, because it keeps the lines as vectors.
